R&D of Innovative Medical Devices (Biological Materials)

Backed up by top RD platforms at the National Engineering Research Center for Biomaterials, Sichuan Testing Center for Biomaterials and Medical Devices, State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, National Pilot Academic and Industrial Innovation Base, National Science and Technology Cooperation Base, and the Research Base of Regulatory Science for Medical Devices of National Medical Products Administration, the laboratory aims at promoting the development of the industries of biomaterials and implant medical device s and the regional coordinated development, targeting the prospective development of the science and industry in biomaterials with focuses on frontier science and technologies including innovative biomaterials and related devices, precision medicine, and interventional medicine.

The research is participated by the teams from the Research Center of Biomaterials of Sichuan University, College of Polymer Science and Engineering, Sichuan University, Huaxi Hospital of Sichuan University and Maccura, headed by Zhang Xingdong, academician of Chinese Academy of Science and professor from Sichuan University, a leading figure in the research field of innovative medical devices and biomaterials in China, Zhao Changsheng, head of College of Chemical Engineering of Sichuan University and a laureate of Chang Jiang Scholors Program, Wang Yunbing, director of the National Research Center of Medical Materials Technology and Engineering, and Seeram Ramakrishna, academician of Royal Academy of Engineering.

The R&D activities involve the development of innovative medical devices (biomaterials) with focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of the MCH biopharmaceutical materials, the promotion of the R&D of IVD testing kits and their market share, and the promotion of the shares of domestic products of diagnosis, advanced medical imaging apparatus, and urgently-needed products for clinical applications; the R&D has subdivisions in the fields of artificial bones and junctures, biological active coating, tooth implant, transplant products and medical materials, in vitro diagnostics and household intelligent diagnosis devices.
